Dedicated to the memory of Marina Vasantheny Christie (née Balaratnam)
This site is a tribute to Marina Vasantheny Christie (née Balaratnam), who was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka on January 15, 1954 and passed away peacefully at her home in Ilford, UK, on 15 July 2022, doing what she loved, gardening.
She was born in Jaffna to Terence and Beatrice Balaratnam. She was the sister of Jegaraj, Vinotharaj, Amalaraj, Tharshini and the late Punitharaj. She was a devoted mother to twins, Nilantheny and Nimesh, mother-in-law to Brahman and Shanna, and grandmother to Gabriel, Aariya, Rafael and Mylan.
She was much loved and will be remembered for her kindness, strong moral compass, perseverance, infectious laughter and forthright manner.
May her soul rest in peace.
